Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, who had been convoyed from Chelyabinsk more than two weeks ago, arrived in Yakutsk on March 17.

Tatyana Shchur, the member of the Public Monitoring Committee of Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation, said this in a commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“The day before we sent the appeal to the public activists and human rights defenders of Siberia and the Urals to help in the search for Oleg Sentsov, who had been convoyed from Chelyabinsk yet at the night of March 7.  According to Yakut journalist Mikhail Romanov, received at 5:50 am Moscow time, Oleg Sentsov arrived in Yakutsk on March 17. He now stays in the remand prison No.1 in Yakutsk,” she said.

As reported, Tatyana Shchur stated yesterday that the human rights defenders had started to search for Oleg Sentsov, whose whereabouts had been unknown since he had been convoyed from Chelyabinsk.

Oleg Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko were sentenced by the Russian court to 20 and 10 years in prison, respectively, for “terrorism.” According to the investigators, they set fire to the door of the offices of several pro-Russian organizations in Crimea causing “destabilization of the situation on the peninsula.”
