Some “victims” in the case of Akhtem Chiygoz know nothing about his role in “mass disorders” and have never seen him, subsequently, could not testify against him in court.

Nikolai Polozov, the lawyer of Chiygoz, said this to Crimea.Realities portal, commenting on the hearing of the Russian-controlled Supreme Court of the annexed Crimea on August 30.

According to him, the hearing was “uninformative”, and three out of four victims did not see Akhtem Chiygoz on the day of mentioned events on February 26, 2014.

Polozov notes that victims do not prove a direct link between the actions of Akhtem Chiygoz and events on February 26 and the questioned in the court “could not answer what relation Chiygoz bears to organizing mass disorder and plotting a criminal plan.”

The lawyer also pointed to the lack of a legal basis for actions of the “Crimean self-defense.”

Akhtem Chiygoz was arrested in January 2015 for participating in a rally in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in front of the Supreme Council of Crimea on February 26, 2014. Russian de facto authorities in Crimea accuse him of organizing mass riots.
