School uniform, backpacks, and supplies were gathered for over 50 children within the action organized by the NGO Crimea SOS to prepare the internally displaced children for school.

In August, the NGO Crimea SOS announced start of a campaign to prepare the children from the eastern regions of Ukraine and Crimea for school. Each child should have taken a picture of his or her handmade crafts and sent it via e-mail to the action organizers. The photos of children’s crafts were posted in social networks, and one could choose a child to help him or her get ready for school, i.e. buy a backpack, school uniform or stationery for the schoolchildren.

Thanks to many not indifferent people, who responded to this initiative, the NGO managed to prepare over 50 children for school. The organizers are grateful to certain private companies which supported the action. For example, the Lucas garment factory provided uniform for girls (15 outfits, 7 jackets and 14 blouses), while the Study Bridge company sent 30 sports uniforms, 10 school bags and stationery.

My son took part in the action. He painted a picture, and we were called back and offered a school backpack. My son liked the gift very much, and was happy to take it to his new school on September 1! Many thanks to the organizers, sponsors, and volunteers. You help our children at such a difficult time ...” Anton’s parents from town of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, write.

As a reminder, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, citing the data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, stated that 2.5 million people had been displaced by the Russian aggression from the temporarily occupied territories in Ukraine.

UN OCHA says there are 2.5 million people displaced by Russian aggression in Ukraine. That’s more than during the war in Bosnia,” he twitted.
