In the evening of March 26, about 200 people came to the Belarusian embassy in Kyiv with a protest.

As reported by reporter of the Human Rights Information Centre.

The protesters urged Belarusian authorities to release the detainees, who were arrested during protests throughout Belarus.

“We appeal to international organizations. We have no illusions about the nature of the regime in Belarus. But we demand a reaction from international organizations, primarily from the OSCE: to extend the Moscow Mechanism to Belarus and to postpone the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which is supposed to be held in Minsk in July of this year. Meetings of international organizations that declare adherence to human rights can not be held in capitals where riotous peaceful demonstrations are dispersed”, – said Oleksandra Matviychuk, Chairman of the Center for Civil Liberties.

As a reminder, on Saturday March 25, about one and a half thousand people protested against the “Decree on Parasites”. This decree obliges the non-working people to pay a special fee of about 200 euros. Particular socially unprotected groups of population are affected from this document, grous such as: young mothers, people with chronic diseases, subsistence farmers, conscript soldiers.

Belarusian law enforcement officers have detained several hundred protesters on March 25.

The authorities detained leaders, activists of political parties, public organizations, human rights defenders, bloggers, journalists of independent media and ordinary citizens. Activists note that the authorities resorted to the worst repressive practices: arbitrary detentions, massive administrative arrests, searches in offices of democratic forces and private premises, large fines.

In Kyiv participants of the event, while holding flags of Belarus shouted slogans: “We see everything!”, “Where is Statkevich?”, “Belarus lives!”. They also sang songs.

On the posters they wrote, in particular, slogans such as: “Our solidarity is stronger than your repression”, “We believe, we can, we will win”, “Resistance is a human right”.

Opposition activists in Belarus say that for two days they can not contact Mikola Statkevich, the leader of Belarusian opposition protest.

Same protests took place, in particular, in Kharkiv, Lviv, Vinnitsa, Kropyvnytskyi, Uzhhorod, Zhytomyr.
