The employees of the Sport Life fitness club in Lviv refused to sell a club card to a man with cerebral palsy because he “will create unsanitary conditions” and “scare away customers” with his appearance.

Kateryna Roinska, the friend of the man, wrote about this fact of discrimination on her Facebook page.

According to the woman, two years ago the doctors advised her friend, tutor of English Ostap Stadnyk go swimming because of a sedentary lifestyle. Ostap went to the nearest sports facility to his place of residence – a fitness club of the Sport Life network in Sykhiv residential area.

Two years ago, a club employee did not hesitate to say directly in the face that such a customer will scare away other customers with his appearance. Then, chair of the Sykhiv District Administration in Lviv Iryna Mykhailivna wrote a letter to Sport Life with the request to clarify the situation. However, the answer is still not received,” the friend of Ostap wrote.

According to her, recently Ostap again addressed the fitness club to purchase a club card.

In a telephone conversation, the employee said to him that he would not be allowed to the institution because his wheelchair will not pass through the turnstile and the wheels will cause unsanitary conditions,” the woman wrote.
