Ukrainian IDPs living in Odesa health resort complain about intolerable conditions

The internally displaced persons, who are still living in the Kuyalnik health resort in Odesa city, claim the resort management has created the unbearable living conditions, so they are forced to return to their homes, including in the occupied Donetsk.

As an IDP Kateryna D. told Interfax-Ukraine news agency, electricity and water were constantly cut off in last days, and social services totally ignored their needs. For example, on Monday, the electricity was on for only 30 minutes in the premises. However, the IDPs keep medicines, particularly insulin, in the refrigerators, which are located in the deenergized premises.

About 100 IDPs are currently living in the health resort. The majority of them are people with disabilities and the elderly people. In recent days, about 100 persons more were forced to return to Donetsk region, in particular to Donetsk city.

October 4, 53 IDPs with disabilities were forced to leave the Kuyalnik health resort and move to the unfinished health resort in Svyatohirsk town in Donetsk region.

According to the deputy chairman of the Donetsk Regional Military and Civil Administration Ihor Stokoza, Odesa regional authorities were earlier asked to give time to finish repairs at the Svyatohirsk resort until October 15. However, despite the promises of the Odesa Regional State Administration, the Kuyalnik resort switched off the light.

Earlier, Kuyalnik director Arayik Pohosyan stated that the IDPs were evicted because the company was a bankrupt and was living in debt for a year. According to him, the health resort cannot house people, and light and water will continue being cut off.
