On Sunday after the March of Equality, opponents of KyivPride attacked a foreigner with symbols of LGBT in the cafe near the Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho metro station.

As reported by Oksana Blyshchyk, press-secretary of the Kyiv police, on her Facebook page.

“Regarding the incident at the fast food restaurant near the Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho metro station: the man had a bracelet with the LGBT symbols on his hand, and attackers tried to rip it off. A conflict arose, police intervened, there were no injured or detainees”, – Blyshchyk wrote.

As the same time, journalist Kateryna Lisunova reported that the incident occurred in the McDonalds restaurant. She witnessed the attack and received threat from attackers about the photographing.

“Just now, radicals attacked the citizen of Israel, the participant of the parade! In McDonalds at the Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho metro station. With assaults and aggressive shouts! The situation is really dangerous – I and the colleague from the Associated Press were frankly threatened for taking photos. In fact, we had to quietly go to another building to save the material”, – Lisunova wrote.

The police had closed the entrance and exit of the restaurant to get to the bottom of the situation.

As a reminder, the Equality March took place on June 18. It occurred without significant provocations. According to the police, about 2.5 thousand people at the event. Among them are the ambassador of Canada Roman Vashchuk, the ambassador of Great Britain Judith Gough, and the ambassador of Sweden Martin Hagström.

Organizers of KyivPride have changed the route, since almost 100 participants of the action against the conduct of KyivPride continuously walked along the pedestrian crossing at the Shevchenko University, forming a chain.

The police have detained six opponents of the March, who tried to break through the cordon of law enforcement officers. During the detention, two policemen received minor injuries.

The day before the event, unknown persons have hacked the website of the Gay-Alliance Ukraine LGBT-organization and posted a message about “declaring war on gays on behalf of the patriots of Ukraine”.
