Presentation of the report “Situation of Human Rights Defenders in the Government-Controlled Territories of Ukraine: Three Years After the Euromaidan”

On Wednesday, May 31, at 11 a.m., the Human Rights Information Centre will present a new comprehensive report “Situation of Human Rights Defenders in the Government-Controlled Territories of Ukraine: Three Years After the Euromaidan”. Presentation and discussion of the report will be held at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center (Kyiv, 2 Khreshchatyk Street).

The discussion will focus on persecution and obstruction of the work of human rights defenders and activists acting in the defense of public interests on the territories of Ukraine controlled by government in March 2014 – March 2017.

The Human Rights Information Center will provide an overview and analysis of cases of criminal and administrative persecution, physical violence (including murders, beatings and damage to property), surveillance and defamation campaigns against civil society activists, as well as obstacles to freedom of peaceful assembly, freedom of association and freedom of movement.

Participants: Tetiana Pechonchyk, Chair of the Board of the Human Rights Information Centre; Harry Hummel, Associate Policy Director of the Netherlands Helsinki Committee; affected activists.

Media, NGOs, representatives of law enforcement agencies, embassies and international organizations are invited to participate in the event.

Simultaneous interpretation from/ to English will be provided during the event.
