ECHR orders Russia to pay Bolotnaya Square activist damages

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ordered Russia to pay EUR 25,000 euros in damages to Bolotnaya Square activist Yevgeniy Frumkin. 

 According to the judges, the state violated the right of Frumkin when he was detained at the protests on the Bolotnaya Square in Moscow on May 6, 2012, Crimea.Realities portal reports.

The rights of the activist were also violated in the course of the trial of him.

Frumkin was detained at the Bolotnaya Square and sentenced to 15 days of arrest. The court did not take into account the information from the witnesses as well as the circumstances of detention.

Earlier, the “prisoner of the Bolotnaya Square” Barabanov was released.
