Muslim Aliyev, defendant in “Hizb ut-Tahrir” case, is the second Crimean Tatar, who was placed under involuntary psychiatric examination, reports human rights defender Emil Kurbedinov on his Facebook

“In solidarity with Ilmi Umerov, in protest over the illegal prosecutions, six political prisoners are threatened with psychiatric hospitals. We ascertain the increase of punitive medicine against Crimean Tatars”, writes Kurbedinov.

He says that another Crimean lawyer Edem Semedliaev is trying to contact Muslim Aliev, who is held now in the 15-th department of psychiatric hospital in Simferopol.

“The lawyer is trying to contact him. He visited the hospital. We think this is not the last case of putting dissidents in psychiatric hospitals. When Edem Semedliaev will go out, we’ll inform the details”, said Kurbedinov in a video message.

Muslim Aliev, one of six arrested in Yalta in “Hizb ut-Tahrir” case, was transported to the psychiatric hospital on November 17.

The defendents in “Yalta case of “Hizb ut-Tahrir” have been in custody for 6 months. The first four were accused on February 11, 2016. The most famous of them is Emir Usein Kuku, the member of the Contact Group on Human Rights. Builders Muslim Aliev and Enver Bekirov, as well as florist Vadym Siruk were detained together with Emir Kuku.

The human rights defenders considers all of them are political prisoners.

The international islamic political organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir” says its mission is to unite all the Muslims in the islamic caliphate. It refuses using terrorist methods and believes that Russia illegally pursues its activities. The Supreme Court of Russia banned “Hizb ut-Tahrir” in 2003, describing 15 organizations as “terroristic”.
