Kyiv District Administrative Court ruled to terminate the activities of the Communist Party of Ukraine (renewed) and the Communist Party of Workers and Peasants.

As the Court’s press service reports, the decision was taken on September 30 in cases filed by the Justice Ministry of Ukraine. The claims were sustained in full; the activities of these parties were terminated.

In addition, the Court’s spokesperson reminded that the court continued considering the administrative case under the lawsuit of the Justice Ministry vs. the Communist Party of Ukraine on the termination of its activities. At this stage, the Communist Party of Ukraine litigates against the order of the Ministry, which is the basis for the ban on its activities.

As a reminder, human rights defender Volodymyr Yavorsky in a commentary to the Human Rights Information Center noted that the Communist Party of Ukraine had the high chances to resume its activities through the European Court of Human Rights. The expert believes that the Ukrainian government had to ban the Communist Party of Ukraine through punishment for specific actions – for example, for participation of some persons in repression against citizens or the organization of the actions aimed at infringing of the territorial integrity.
