The Meshchansky District Court in Moscow will consider the lawsuit over protection of honor and dignity filed by Oleg Sentsov against the Russia’s Federal Security Service and a number of Russian media.

The defendants are the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB), News Media, Channel One, NTV, Zvezda TV Company, BFM.ru, VGTRK, RIA-Novosti news agency reports.

Sentsov is outraged by the fact that the journalists in their reports had called him a terrorist based on the press releases from the security services even before the court delivered its judgment.

As reported, Ukrainian citizens Oleg Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Hennadiy Afanasyev, and Oleksiy Chirniy were kidnapped in Crimea in the spring of last year. They had been tortured and then taken to Russia, where there were accused of terrorism.

Afanasyev and Chirniy made a deal with the investigation and were sentenced to seven years in prison. At the court hearing of the trial of Sentsov and Kolchenko, Afanasyev rejected his testimony about himself and other persons involved in the case, saying that he had given them under pressure.

August 25 of this year, Sentsov and Kolchenko were sentenced to 20 and 10 years in prison respectively.

The human rights organization Memorial recognized Sentsov, Kolchenko, and Afanasyev as the political prisoners while Amnesty International recognized them as the prisoners of conscience.
