A person with tuberculosis was placed in the same cell as Ukrainian Yevhen Panov, who is detained in Crimean SIZO (pre-trial detention centre).
As reported Igor Kotelianets, Panov’s brother, on his Facebook page.
“They put a person with tuberculosis in the same cell as Yevhen”, - wrote Kotelianets.
As reported by Kotelianets in the commentary to Krym.Realiyi, Panov’s lawyers are preparing to file claims and complaints against the SIZO in order to find out the details of the incident.
“In addition, Valeriya Lutkovska sent a request to the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation in regards to this situation. Requests related to the fact that there is information that a person with tuberculosis was put in the same cell as healthy people. We want them (Directorship of the SIZO – KR) to clarify this situation – who is this person and why he was placed in a cell with Yevhen”, - noted Kotelianets.
As a reminder, in August, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Evgen Panov and Andriy Zakhtiy were accused of preparing terrorist acts in the occupied Crimea.
According to the human rights defenders, Panov had been tortured for several days. Then, he slandered himself on video, recorded by the secret services.
Olga Skrypnyk, a Coordinator of the Crimean Human Rights Group, informed that such methods of torture were used against Genadiy Afanasiev, Oleg Sentsov, Andriy Kolomiets and Oleksandr Kostenko.
In early December, Panov wrote a statement to the Inestigative Committee of the Russian Federation with complaints about tortures, to which, according to him, he was subjected for 6 days after the detainment on the night of August 7, 2016. According to Panov, the evidence that was filmed on camera and published on August 11, he had given under tortures. In addition, he signed all the documents that were given to him by the FSB officers.
In February 2017, Russian Investigation relocated Ukrainians Yevhen Panov and Andriy Zakhtiy from Lefortovo SIZO of Moscow to the Crimea. Lawyer Dmytro Dinze, who represents Panov, suggests that such relocation can be related to the desire of Russian security forces to complicate the process of defense in this case.
