The health of journalist Stanislav Aseev (Vasin), who is being held captive by the militants of the “DNR”, has sharply deteriorated.

As reported by former Deputy Yegor Firsov on his Facebook page.

“I do not want to upset, but I can not remain silent. Stanislav has significant health problems. He has lost a lot of weight. He was probably tortured, which is why his arrest was announced only a month later”, – Firsov wrote.

According to him, Stanislav never had a good health, despite the fact that never had bad habits and was engaged in sports. He took antibiotics several times a year, because his chronic bronchitis progressed into lung inflammation.

According to Firsov, Aseev does not have the necessary medications and representatives of the “Ministry of State Security of the DNR” refuse to provide him with medications. In addition, representatives of international organizations, who could get accurate information about the journalist’s state of health, still do not still do not have access to the journalist.

As a reminder, Aseev, who worked for the Ukrainian service of the Radio Liberty and several other Ukrainian publications under the alias of Stanislav Vasin and was reporting about the daily life in the east of Ukraine, disappeared on June 2.

On July 15, Oleg Kotenko, head of Patriot, a volunteer group that works on the release of political prisoners in Ukraine, told independent broadcaster Hromadske Radio (Public Radio), that the separatists detained Aseev for his “pro-Ukrainian stance” and for “spreading information about the so-called “DNR”, which in militants’ opinion, is not true.”

On July 16, Yegor Firsov, Aseev’s friend and a former Ukrainian People’s Deputy, wrote on his blog in Ukrainska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) that the separatists had charged the journalist with espionage and that if they convict him, he can be imprisoned for a term of up to 14 years, citing written confirmation provided to Aseev’s mother. Firsov also wrote that Aseev’s mother was allowed to see him in detention.

On July 17, the Committee to Protect Journalists in a public statement demanded an immediate release of journalist Stanislav Aseev.
