A new video appeared in the case of shootings on the Institutskaya Street in Kyiv on February 20, 2014. Representatives of victims presented this video to the court.

As reported by Hromadske, on February 14, the video was presented during the court hearing in the Svyatoshin District Court and was added to the case.

The footage, which was probably shot from the “Ukraine” hotel, shows that shots were fired from behind the trucks, which were standing under the concrete barricades.

Flashes and powder gasses from behind the barricades can be seen on footage. The footage also depicts that persons in black uniforms are firing and at the same time depicts the protesters, who are falling down from the injuries on Institutskaya Street.

People in the uniforms of Berkut Special Forces were retreating and locating for a protracted period of time.

Authors of the video are yet unknown. According to the representatives of victims, video was sent to him in the mail.

According to Roman Psyuk, the Prosecutor of the Special Investigations Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office, this footage bears evidence that there was no advance from the side of protesters. Their aim was to set tires on fire and to create a smokescreen.

In turn, Oleksandr Goroshinskiy, the lawyer of former Berkut officers Marinchenko and Abroskin, believes that the video does not provide new information.

“Let’s not speak of what is not proved. We need to wait for ballistic examination”, – he said.

Goroshinskiy also considers that court is under pressure.

As a reminder, currently only 5 former Berkut officers are on defendant’s bench in the case of shootings during Euromaidan. 21 suspects are wanted.

As reported by the General Prosecutor’s Office, 13 Berkut officers received Russian citizenship, two more received residence permit.

As a reminder, on May 17, 2016, the Svyatoshynsk court began the trial of the former Berkut officers: Pavlo Abroskin, Serhiy Zinchenko, Oleksandr Marinchenko, Serhiy Tamtura and Oleg Yanishevsky.

They are accused of shooting the Euromaidan activists on Institutska Street in Kyiv in February of 2014. Former officers of the Berkut Special Forces deny their guilt.

The court has extended the arrest of Abroskin, Zinchenko, Marinchenko, Tamtura and Yanishevsky until March 17.

Only 25 law enforcement officers, who participated in shootings on Institutska Street, were identified and 20 of them are wanted.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, 2.5 thousand people were injured during the Euromaidan and 104 of them died.

48 people died as a result of shootings on the Institutskaya Street on February 20, 2014. 80 people were injured from shots from Berkut side.

All crimes committed during the Revolution of Dignity are relatively grouped into one big “Maidan case”, which has 89 criminal proceedings. In particular, the murders of 91 people are being investigated (78 protesters and 13 officers of security forces).
