Unknown masked men beat up Hromadske TV journalist in Zaporizhzhia
Tuesday morning, May 24, unknown masked men attacked Hromadske TV Zaporizhzhia journalist Anatoly Ostapenko.
According to Hromadske TV Zaporizhzhia, the attack occurred in the city center.
The journalist was cut off by a car with tinted windows and covered number plate on his way to work. Three masked men ran out of a car, pushed the journalist to the ground, and started to beat him. Then they got into the car and fled in an unknown direction. None of the attackers took the valuables.
The police and doctors arrived at the scene at once. The law enforcement officers interviewed several eyewitnesses. Numerous bruises and hematomas were detected in a preliminary medical examination of the journalist.
Anatoly Ostapenko said in a commentary to Hromadske radio that he had no specific versions regarding the attack’s customers. According to him, his last investigation (and the only for a few years) concerned new governor Kostiantyn Bryl.
The law enforcement officers pre-qualified the crime under Article 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Preclusion of legal professional activities of journalist).
